A snow leopard
Last week, for the first time since I was a little girl I went to the zoo.
And saw a snow leopard for the first time in the flesh. And fell head over heels in love.
I knew nothing about these beautiful creatures until they were featured on the BBC documentary Planet Earth a couple of years ago (check out a clip here) and it was a delight to see them for real. Apparently I was very lucky as even in captivity they can be quite elusive. But on a cold, wet day when a lot of the other animals were curled up asleep the snow leopards were out and about. The male, who is called Tito I believe, walked right by the glass wall where I was standing, rubbing up against it like an overgrown house cat. For those few moments just a sliver of glass between me and him - wonderful!
Right now I want to draw nothing but snow leopards!
