Greetings from Sneezy McSneezy!
Sorry for the disappearing act, gentle readers, but I’ve been ill all week, struggling with a very nasty throat infection that has left me out of sorts and very tired.
I have kept up with the drawing, though with difficulty. I’ve found it very hard to concentrate on anything and have lost count of drawings started only to be quickly abandoned. I’m going to cheat a little and back date this week’s drawings when I get around to uploading them.
The weather was lovely here all week, mild and hazy with the rain only coming on at the weekend.
I went to see Stardust on Wednesday evening after work. It was very sweet, different from the book but lovely all the same. Afterwards I walked home under the nearly full moon, and by the time I had reached my house a thin veil of mist had descended giving the evening a fairy tale feel all of its own.
And I’ve been reading Possession again. I first read this years ago, just after it won the Booker in 1990. I’ve managed to forget quite a lot of it (I have a shocking memory!) and have been really enjoying discovering it again. It’s a multi-layered, dense story set in the world of literary academia as two academics uncover a secret affair between two Victorian poets.
And I’ve also been watching some TV pilots that a friend gave me. Pushing Daisies was the best of the lot - stylistically it reminded me a lot of Amelie. Very quirky! But with a somewhat limited premise. It’s got a full season pickup so it’ll be interesting to see if the writers can keep it fresh.
I also watched The Sarah Connor Chronicles. One of my all time favourite movies is The Terminator and I really hated what they did with the storyline in Terminator 3. Luckily the creators of this new show have wisely decided to ignore T3 and have set this a couple of years after the events depicted in T2. It’s well cast (unlike T3 - Nick Stahl was too wimpy to EVER cut it as John Connor, hero of the future!), with Summer Glau particularly well cast as a female terminator. It was a good, solid pilot unlike The Bionic Woman which is one of the most turgid and awful TV shows I’ve seen in some time. It’s so awful you could hold it up as a good example of how NOT to make a TV show. The only good thing in it was Katee Sackhoff and I hope for her sake this thing gets canned soon as she’s so much better than a show like this. And it makes me yearn for Jake 2.0 - similar sort of show except with actual writing - really, really good yet axed after only 14 eps. US TV makes no sense to me!
And now I have another headache - hurray for Panadol Hot Lemon, it’s what’s kept me going this week ;)

Sounds like you have been keeping occupied while sick anyway. ;-) Your drawings are all wonderful as usual. Even the unfinished ones.
Welcome back to the land of the living again. ;-)
Thanks for posting all the drawings. They are are all inspiring.

Sorry you’ve been ill. No fun that. Gorgeous area you live in. those mountains. Actually I have realized we have a mountain here which I can see from down the road. I’m going to try to draw/paint it. Course I’ve been living in the flatlands for 30 years so mountains seem wonderous things. Be well. A pot of Chicken soup to you or a vegetarian alternative if your vegetarian.

I live on top of a (small) mountain. The top picture is the view from my house, and the second is the view from the other side of the mountain.
I’ve never being one for painting landscapes - the light here is so soft and beautiful, you could spend a life time trying to capture it and never get close. Perhaps it is worth a lifetime.

Is this a photo or a painting? Amazing piece of art.

Photos! But I know what you mean. They both have quite a painterly look due in part to the misty weather and the fact that they were both taken in quite low light.
