Look what came in the mail today!

It’s my first ever Etsy purchase!

The day started badly, I woke up to lovely blue skies but by less than an hour later, just as I was heading off to work, the sky had turned slate grey and the rain was pouring down. By the time I reached my workplace I was feeling rather sorry for myself:(

But look at what the postman turned up with just a short time later - the beautiful photograph by Madelyn Mulvaney (aka Courage, My Love) which I had ordered from Etsy a couple of weeks ago. And it seemed to bring the very spirit of spring with it as no sooner had I opened the package than the sun burst through the clouds in defiance of the forecast wintry weather!

The Soul in Bloom by Couragemylove

It’s called “The Soul in Bloom”. And I love it! I shall see about getting it framed next week. I want to hang it on the upstairs landing just outside my bedroom so that I will see it every morning - a little splash of beauty to lift the spirits.

While I was expecting the photograph what did come as a delightful surprise were all the unexpected extras…

A handwritten card thanking me for my purchase…

...as well as a handmade card featuring another one of Madelyn’s beautiful flowers:

The Passion by Couragemylove

The gift tag made me smile as the quote on it is one of my favourites. If I were ever to have a personal motto this would be it, endless daydreamer that I am:

“I shut my eyes in order to see.” Paul Gauguin

As well as her lovely shop on Etsy, Madelyn keeps a very romantic and endlessly charming blog called Persisting Stars which features many of her wonderful photographs, as well as lots of love poetry and a joie de vivre that’s infectious. I heartily recommend it!

What a lovely surprise indeed. How fun to find this envelope with all these beautiful and meaningful pieces inside. Lucky you and I can see how it brightened your day and will continue to give you brightness in all your days to come.

:) I am so happy you were pleased with your
package ~ i get such a kick out of putting
it together ~ almost more fun than taking the
photos:)

I am curious about your banner ...did you
design that?  I was thinking of having
a cartoonish version of myself drawn for
my blog...?

i love your sweet girl up there with that
adorable vintage style red coat:)

have a wonderful weekend and thank you
so much for this generous post:)

Hi Maddie
Thanks for stopping by and thank you for the nice comment about my banner.

I painted it in Photoshop, originally as a graphic for a kids theatre show. I could be persuaded to draw something similar…

Eavan - Life is a Dream was excellent. Really enjoyed it. The story is intriguing and the cast excellent. I think it’s running until mid April. Well worth checking out if you’re in Dublin.

Isn’t Maddie the best? She is so imaginative and kind. I bought one of her lovely photographs and it is waiting framing. You have a lovely blog as well.

Hi Yoli

Yes defo the best! She comes as across as one of those unashamedly generous souls - we need more of those in this world!
I’ve just had a look at your blogger profile and see that you are a fellow Angela Carter fan! Hurrah to that. She is one of my all time favourites.
