Ombria in Shadow
There are many, many other things that I should be doing today but I can’t be bothered :)
So I’m going to curl up in bed with Ombria in Shadow and escape into one of Patricia McKillip’s no doubt beautifully crafted faerytale worlds.
Kinuko Y Craft is an artist who is responsible for some of the most beautiful covers to adorn McKillip’s novels. Her work is very detailed, with an almost baroque lushness.
Above: cover image of the Patricia McKillip novel Alphabet of Thorn by Kinuko Craft. My nephews and I had a fun half hour exploring this cover - the beauty is very much in the details. All manner of little fauna are hiding in the flora!
Above: cover image for Od Magic, a McKillip novel I’ve yet to get around to reading.
I’ve noticed that the Duirwaigh Gallery are selling some reasonably priced prints by Craft- I’d be very tempted to order some, particularly those created for the McKillip books. Patricia McKillip has a very special place in my heart but I’ll explain that another day :)
